Historically, Sandymount House was an integral part of the De Vesci Estate, located 2km from the heritage town of Abbeyleix. This beautifully restored 1836 Georgian residence, Sandymount House, is set in mature, tranquil gardens with attractive lawns front and sides, resplendent with quality features such as a stream and a magnificent Monkey Puzzle tree.
This owner run house was restored in the past two years, sympathetically combining original features with contemporary furnishings. With its sweeping staircase and marble fireplaces, the balance of old and new is carried throughout and affords our guests an impressive area of comfort and peace.

This charming and elegant country house, boasts individually designed bedrooms (all ensuite) with king-sized orthopaedic beds, flat screens TVs, and hair drying facilities, which provides comfort for all our guests. All of our ensuites are fitted with heated towel rails and power showers and are finished with contemporary décor.
The dining room enjoys early morning sun, with views on to the garden and horse paddock, where our guests can relax and take pleasure in our freshly cooked Irish breakfasts. In the winter our guests can enjoy relaxing in front of an open log fire in the comfort of our guest lounging areas. Guests are assured of an enthusiastic and warm welcome from the owners Avril and Robin.
Sandymount house is situated on the Ballacolla/Rathdowney road (R433) and offers ample parking facility.
Sandymount House is set amidst the charm and relaxed lifestyle of Co.Laois, providing a happy and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors ,whether it be attending the many weddings at Castle Durrow or visiting the many gardens, museums or trekking around the walks in the Slieve Blooms.

From DUBLIN
Take the N7 (signposted The South and Cork.) This will take you to the M7, follow this road to EXIT 17. Leave Motorway and take first exit signposted CORK N8. The next town is ABBEYLEIX go through traffic lights at centre of town crossroads then take next right to the BALLACOLLA/RATHDOWNEY Road R433. We are located 2 km out of Abbeyleix on the right hand side of road.
From CORK
Take the N8 from Cork to Dublin. The N8 will take you straight to ABBEYLEIX . On entering Abbeyleix take sharp turn left opposite Garage to the BALLACOLLA/RATHDOWNEY Road R433.

From GALWAY
Take the N6 from Galway City. After Loughrea turn right following signs for Portumna, Birr & Roscrea (N62). In Birr follow signs for Roscrea, Borris-in-Ossory & Dublin. When you go through Borris-in-Ossory take first turn right off this road signposted BALLACOLLA. This road is narrow with a lot of bends. In Ballacolla at traffic lights turn LEFT and we are approx. 2 km situated on the left hand side of road after River Bridge.
From ROSSLARE
Take N25 to WEXFORD continue to NEWROSS on the N25. Take R700 to THOMASTOWN. Continue on the R700 to KILKENNY. At Kilkenny Ring Road roundabout take third exit and follow Ring Road (straight through) to last roundabout and take second exit on to the N77 to DURROW. (About 5 miles from Kilkenny there is a left turn signposted BALLYRAGGET and DURROW) take this and follow road through Ballyragget to Durrow. Turn right on to N8 (Cork/Dublin) road and next town is ABBEYLEIX. On entering Abbeyleix take sharp turn left opposite Garage to the BALLACOLLA/RATHDOWNEY (R433) Road. We are located 2km out of Abbeyleix on the right hand side of road.
From LIMERICK
Take N7 direction Nenagh and Roscrea and BORRIS-IN-OSSORY. When you go through Borris-in-Ossory take first turn right off this road signposted BALLACOLLA. This is a narrow road with a lot of bends. In Ballacolla at traffic lights turn LEFT and we are approx. 2 km situated on the left hand side of road after River Bridge.
